Heads & Cam

Will a heads and cam package put more stress on your engine? What other things will you have to upgrade when doing this? Is it still recamended with a 90k car?

Thanks in advance...

nope, a heads/cam combo will not hurt your car. nitrous or forced induction will.

It is all releative, If you put a large cam in with alot of spring pressures the RPMs that youre required to rev to acheive optimum power with your combo will put more stress and wear on the engine. But relatively less compared to forced induction or nitrous.

It won't put stress on the car unless YOU put stress on it. If I have a stock car and everyday I drive it like I stole it, that puts stress on the engine. If you have a heads/cam combo with 360 RWHP but baby the hell out of it, there's no stress.....

If you increase the dynamic compression of an engine by a cam change it will put more stress on it than the stock cam would have.

Assuming the motor is in good shape, don't spin the motor any higher than 6600 or so (close to 7k on a balanced stock crank and rods), use M1 0w40 or a good 40wt synthetic oil, and the bearings should be ok. I'd also switch to a 160 t stat from increased compression.

What are important things to consider when trying to buy the right heads and cam combo for your car?
