headlights are possesed
ok i pull up tonight and when i turn off my lights they start making noise. so i figure ok my motors are messing up. no big deal. but heres what is starnge to me. when i use the remote lock or unlock the lights pop up and then go down. the lights dont come on. why is it now just doing this. five minutes ealier when at the store it didnt do this. and its not done it in the past. is somethign else wrong? is it trying to tell me something? i guess ill be looking into some metal gears. should be all thats wrong with the noise part of it right? thanks Trey

Thats its way of telling you the headlight motor worm gears are turning way too many revolutions (i.e. the plastic wheel gear is stripped). One way to fix it is to unplug the headlight motor connectors (white weatherpak connectors adjacent to each motor), then turn the switch to on then back off, then plug them back in. Of course, next time you rasie then lower the lights, it'll do it again. I dont drive much at night so its not much of a problem for me. And when I do, I plug them in, turn the switch to on, and unplug them in the up position. Options for permanent fix are new plastic gears, new metal gears, or new motors (expensive!).
Do a search on the net, there's a guy sellin metal gears to replace the plastic stripped gear in the motor for the head light. I think he's selling them for like 30-35 dollars a gears.
Also for the lights coming up on their it's usually an aftermarket alarm system not hooked up properly to the light system that causes that.

ok so the fact that the lights raise and lower when i hit the lock or unlock button on my remote pad is because the gears are messed up? is this right? i mean they both started occuring at the same time. the noise and the raising and lowering. thanks Trey

And, yes, when you fix the stripped gear problem the other headlight gremlins will also go away. What happens is the headlight control module gets "confused" when one of the gears is stripped and doesn't really know what's going on. It kinda freaks out so to speak
The most common side affect of this is the headlights popping up when they shouldn't. As has been said, fix the gear and your other problems will likely go away as well!
