11s on stock heads?

Has anyone done this? If so what is your setup? Is anyone running 12s with a cc305 sized cam? I know some suspension work is going to need to be done and also a good set of tires. I am will to sacficice some, but this car will be daily driven. AC, T-tops, leather, etc, are all extras and can do without.

Thanks
Jeremy

Yup,
I did it with a LT4 HotCam.
Have a 3500 Converter, Slicks, 3.42 Gears and some nice weather.

I know there are others out there that has done it as well.

I also plan on hitting 12's with a mild cam (Hotcam). It's not too hard to hit 12's with a cam, headers, and other minors. There are 2 people with LT1 cars in my local club that are in the 11's with stock bottom ends, ported stock heads, etc. but I believe that their cam selections and TC stalls aren't very streetable, for daily use anyway.

Friend of mine was hitting 12.34 with exhaust, roller rockers, the basics and shortys. The "driver" mod accounts for a lot of it. I'm hoping to tweak that "mod" myself.

Do you mean stock heads as in stock castings, or stock heads as in untouched LT1 heads. I doubt it with Bone Stock LT1 heads without juice or boost. Lots of people do it with ported heads. Take for example grease, he layed down 414 with ported heads and I believe it was still a stock bottom end. 414 is good for lowwww 11s with good driving and traction. 360 is good for 11s if you drive right and have the right setup. Its all in the suspension and that area that really decides track times, if you want to know if people are hitting 11s with stock heads, tell us what suspension, tires, rear end you want to know if people do it with a specific setup.

I was talking about untouched stock LT1 heads, no porting, gasket matching, etc. I understand that suspension is going to be a must along with tires, but I didnt want to have to put in stuff like 10pt cages, racing seats, k-member, and so on.

Hey Ken, is thiere still tuning that needs to be done with that car? You switch from the hotcam to the 230/236 111 with ported heads and only droped .11 tenths of a sec. Something doesnt sound right. Or did you do that 11.80 with hotcam and ported heads? I guess you might pickup some if you swap for a little more gear. Is that what is holding you back?

I run consistant 12.3's on stock non ported or polished heads. I do have the 1.6 rr's that cam with the hot cam kit along with the springs. Check sig. I now have a new trans & higher stall. I think I have a shot with some slicks & skinnies. My race wt is 3605 with driver so if I can dump a bit more wt I know I will run a 11 second stock headed run. I think it is gonna happen in the fall...
I can feel it.

It is very hard I must admit.... But I can get there...

Have you guys read the latest issue of GMHTP? There's a guy with a red LT1 TA that runs 12.3x with stock heads AND a stock cam. 11s are definitely doable with stock heads and a mild cam.
