headlight wont come up with switch or manually....

ive had the problem lately where the driverside headight would make a loud noice when closing. also, both headlights would come up when i put the parking lights on. So yesterday, it never came up. went to do it by hand, and it doesn nothing. i had like 17 volts at each connector for each light. so im thinking the motor and gear in the headlight are bad? any insight would be great. thanks.

Hmm if it doesnt come up by manual turning the motor i'd guess the gear was stripped or ? Hmm Brent has helped me in all my headlight issues (I've had 3 of all 5 headlight issues weeeeeeee)

You had 17 volts even when the light was already down/up???

The headlight control module should have killed voltage as soon as the light got to full up/down. It could be your headlight control module is bad or it could be that the gear is just stripped. A stripped headlight gear will cause the lights to pop up/down with just the fog/parking lights coming on. Fixing the stripped gear will fix this. I have a detailed free fix that you can try. But, what has me wondering is why you still have voltage (and 17 volts at that!!!) when the light is down/up???

Once you get the voltage thing figured out, take a look here to try the free 180 degree rotate it fix

If you are still having trouble, let me know. As Ken mentioned, I've seen/heard about most all the headlight problems one can experience with the Pontiacs and know of a fix for almost all of them
