MAC's. Great fit, works with a 100% stock car, and makes plug changes easier. Noticeable "seat of the pants" power gain as well.

Thanks everyone. After reading the respones and weighing the pro's and con's of each header, I'm pretty set on the '94-'95 style MAC's directly from Jet-Hot with the coating inside and out on the headers and Y-pipe.

Thanks for all the responses.

I love my Mac headers. The fitment was awesome and plug access is a big PLUS! And the gains of performance from the Macs is awesome! I got my Macs from Jet hot and the coating on them inside and out is awesome! I say it is worth the money to get them from jet hot.

I also had the Hooker #2231 LT and now have the JetHot LTs , but check out the Edelbrock shorties ... you won't be sorry .

This is the most appropriate answer and the best solution.

Forget headers. Find a good pair of SLP LT4 Manifolds. I installed them on my 1996 SS and they are superb in fit and provide better than 75% of what any headers would do, and surely provide enough to reach 350-375 HP. I pulled 339RWHP with them. They always turned heads, with a smooth mellow sound and when the anybody looked at them, the car looked meek and stock. They are made of cast stainless steel, and extrude honed to remove any cast flashing and roughness. They mate right up to the heads and your stock pipes.

As time progresses, headers will be a detriment to the resale of the car, performance manifolds will enhance the value.

Net performance will favor the headers, but only at the upper RPM ranges. Some torque gain at mid ranges are favored with the manifolds.

Well i would go with the RK Sport headers. I like them better because of the 1 3/4 and they take after the as&m design. They will also give your more room to play with if you ever decide to go for more power. Even though you say you won't. Everybody wants more power. You will get the urge again.

Re: Which Headers would YOU buy? My Last Header Question!

The MAC's that I'm looking at are Jet Hot coated inside and out for both the headers and the Y-pipe. They are 1 5/8" Primaries. $561 shipped to my door.

Where can you buy the MAC coated headers for this price ??

The manifolds have barely enough length as it is. Longer primary tubes on headers are going to make more low/mid range torque. They'll also make more upper range torque due to the primary diameters.

There's nowhere in the powerband where a stock manifold will make more power/torque than a heads.

Can't find any exact info on jet-hot.com. Do we have a contact person or do you have to buy a set of macs and then send them to these guys. Thanks

Go to their home page, then click on new headers, then click on the online catalog that is mentioned in the first paragragh.

The '94-'95 style headers are part number TF94957

Here's the direct link.

Another vote for Rk Sport headers.. Th ey-pipe is coated and the quality is good also. It is not like the coating is going to just flake off the Rk Sport headers..LOL

The only advantage MAC headers have is the slightly lower price and plug access.. The 1 3/4 headers will probally make more power than the MAC's also.
