Headers and smog???

Re: Headers and smog???
what kind of headers do you plan on going with? The only smog legal ones are either SLP's or edelbrock TES. There is no smog legal long tube. MAC headers have all the necessry fitting however do not come with a EO#, but they may get passed the smog tech. this is all in theory based on a visual, I have no idea if it will make your car a dirty burner although I doubt it

Re: Headers and smog???
As long as the headers are CARB exempt (California Air Resources Board) then you will have no problem passing smog. And I think that the headers have to say CARB exempt or something like that on them, I can't remember what mine say on them. And as stated before, if you want some non-compliant headers then all you have to worry about is the visual inspection.

CARB Database
You can check the CARB database for approved aftermarket parts.
http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/aftermk...es/amquery.php
Scroll down and use the "List EO's by Device" search. There are several
headers that are CARB approved. SLP, JBA and Edelbrock come to
mind. The key is that you can not relocate the catalytic(s), although
many have done this with no problems.
