Headers and rockers, MPG increase?

Just curious. In GTP land, by adding higher ratio rockers and headers, you could see a 2-3mpg increase. Will LTs and 1.7rr increase LT1 gas mileage?

Let the debate begin.

I will be testing the MPG effect of headers in a few weeks. I'm also curious about the roller rockers. I might try that mod in the future as well. I don't see how a 1.7rr would help though. That extra valve lift seems like it would decrease mileage.

I mis read the first post.

Headers will definitly help gas mileage. ONLY ONLY if you have the correct O2 sensor simulators to avoide a Service Engine Soon light, which will make the computer run the car more rich.

Rockers..........beats me

i dont think rockers will have much affect. Headers are going to let the car breath easier so thats a no brain er.
I think a pcm tune would do more than rockers.

You are thinking of the rear 02 sensors which do not play a part in the PCMs calculations. The rear 02 sensors are simply there to monitor the catalyst efficiency and whether they are there or not will not make the car run overly rich.

I've heard about headers causing a fuel economy increase. I didn't log my before/after well enough.

Rockers? I doubt it, but I wouldn't know.

Probly won't do anything noticable.....

True it does breath better...but I dought its much better at low or part throttle breathin any better than the manifolds.....WOT yeah but I don't see part throttle being restrictive enough to give a mileage increase

I saw no appreciable change in gas milage from either mod, but the power gain was easily noticable. I track my milage every fill-up, so I would have noticed.

Cant talk about the rockers, but I can say this: after installing the
headers, T.C., and new tranny, I'm seeing a 14% increase in gas mileage!

I'm not sure how a t.c is going to help your mpg but I can see headers.
