Well, it is normally, but if it's near the collectors, it can sound more like a hiss.

Exhaust leaks are easily repaired though if you have them. You just need to find the leak (carbon streaks), and weld it closed.

yeah, what the worst part is, is that the hissing surfaces only under load! so at idle, I can't hear the leak.

cant' see carbon streaks either, but frmo the location of the hissing sound, its definitely coming from one of the collectors. can't tell, because when I hear the sound, i'm sitting IN the car driving it, but it does come from underhood.

hopefully an exhaust shop can fix this.. i've taken it to a couple shops and they couldn't do a thing about it, because they only listened for leaks when the car was idling.

After doing a lot of searching I've narrowed it down to two now. Macs and ASMs/RKsports. I don't plan on going major on engine as funds don't allow. When the time comes to rebuild my engine I might have it bored .030 over, install bigger cam such as hotcam or milder, and maybe smooth out heads a little myself (nothing major). Mainly its gonna be a bolt on car. I read ealier that on stock or almost stockcars l/ts didn't help much. Ground clearance is a issue too, and the mids have emissions (that way won't have to worry about unhooking them). Now I ask which will give me the best power Macs or ASMs/RKsports? Sorry if I'm asking lot of questions. You guys are great.

Well, you could flip a coin to pick which one to get.

Seriously, they are both great options. Those were the exact two choices that I had, and you can see which I chose by looking in my sig. I couldn't be happier with the MACs to be honest.

MACs:
Better plug access
Better low-end TQ
Better coating if purchased through Jet-Hot

RKsport:
Higher HP capability if you ever reach the point where 1 3/4" primaries are necessary

I really like my AS&M's. I personally don't think plug access is that bad. Maybe the MAC's are better because they are smaller?

How much et and mph improvement does headers (mids) usually make in an 1/8 mile. 1/8 is closest track to me. I plan on running mine to get a baseline pretty soon.
