Headers Help...

On the passenger side, how do you get the two front header bolts in? I'm installing MAC Headers and I'm using Stage 8 Locking header bolts...

I've yet to get to the driver's side at all, but from what I've read that side is cake.

You can't tighten any of the header bolts until they are all started. If you do then you will have a problem getting things to line up properly.

Heh, I remember that being a PITA...

The one towards the rear, I forget, did it somehow. Once you get the bolt started, try using an allen wrench to tighten it since there isn't much room for a socket or wrench.

The one towards the front. Stock setup used a special bolt to hold an alternator bracket, if I remember correctly. Tough spot, find someone with small hands. I meant to reuse the stock bolt instead of a Stage 8, but it was a PITA. I think the Stage 8 was difficult too. I ended up using just a regular stock header bolt, I should have kept trying the special bolt. Alternator has been fin without that extra support btw.

Good luck.

LOL Stevil I love your avatar, Toonces the Driving Cat...

Anyway, I have the back four bolts on, I've been using an allen wrench to do the dirty work, but the front two on the passenger side were being a pain, and it was time to pack it in anyway. I've already used a 'tap' and fixed some threads I messed up, and I don't want to be going there again (removing the header). I'll try the stock bolt tomorrow, it seems near impossible to get to with the Stage 8 unless I remove the power steering/alternator bracket..

remove the bracket.. it's not that big of a deal... don't reuse the stockers either... that's not a good idea

I used the Stage 8 bolt, and screwed the alternator bracket. I used an allen wrench to start, and tighten it. It took a LONG time, because you can only get 1/2 inch of turn, but it came. I also used an open end wrench to do a little.
My alternator is still fine too.
