ok, basically, im looking for a smog legal header set, so probably shorties

now why do some sound louder then others and do any give more perfomace then others?

my friend has edlebrocks and he loves them to death and i do too.

but its the only one ive heard in person... so i donno what else they sound like.

he aslo has an edlebrock exhaust system, would i be able to do these mods by myself, its quite costly to get someone else to do it, he said his were 800 for exhaust and headers and 800 labor

thats more then id like to spend

 

I paid around $500 for my Mac headers and off road y pipe. Everything is coated. I installed them myself and it took about 3 days due to the weather. For my cat back, I originally ordered a 3 inch flow master mandrel bent kit (maybe $300?), and then got rid of the muffler in favor of a Dynomax Ultra flow. So I guess $800 for all the parts is pretty reasonable. You can put in the headers and y pipe, but I think it's better to have the muffler welded up instead of bolting it up. Most companies that make exhaust systems for our cars have them certified as emissions legal so they can sell them in every state including California. Almost forgot, if you want to pass emissions, you will most likely need a good set of cats so the off road y pipe is out, I think their y pipe with cats is around $300 dollars.

 

could i put headers on w/ stock exhaust?

well back to first question whats the difference in headers why do some make the system louder and why do some make u more performance?
