Question Which headers to buy?

I am looking to upgrade the exhaust on my 94 Z. Right now it has shorty headers/y-pipe, stock intermediate pipe and flowmaster muffler.
I am looking to go long tubes and true dual 3" with 2 chamber flowmasters.
I have looked around have seen the hooker/jet hot dispuste, so I will consider those one in the same. I have also looked at pasesetter and dynatech. Anyone have any info on either of these headers?
The car is lowered 2", so clearance is a problem. I need to know which of these will give me the most clearance with a 3" collector. Also, are all of these collectors a 3 bolt flange, or are they available slip fit? I will probably look at getting them coated locally, so that isnt a big deal.
Thanks guys
Stevie Whitley

my vote goes for the jet hot long tube headers. The headers themselves dont have bad ground clearance. My true duals are the low part, but only because I have 2 cats in the system, I am sure you could have good clearance if you ran the duals without cats through the trans tunnel. Just my .02.

of all these, FLP's or Dynatechs are likely going to give you the best ground clearance, but with a 2" drop its still not going to be good.

Ok having said that, why not spend your money where its going to do the most good? Shorties have been shown over and over again to be close enough to LT's to not matter (or better than is some cases), save your money and put it into a cam or heads!

I'm ordering a my PPC headers tomorrow. I can't wait to get them. PPC is still in the prototyping for the LT1 headers but will be ready to ship in April at the latest. They have really good ground clearance, better than Hooker, FLP,SLP,Jet Hot. They are based on the Groto style header which is supposed to be the best LT design.

I will definitely be looking to unload them, but it will probably be 2-3 months, just trying to get a game plan for the moment. I will keep your address though. I am unsure of a brand. I have been told a couple different things, but they look like RK Sport to me. I can get some pics up if you would like to see them. They had a sticker that said HPC on them.

This is all in preporation for the new engine. I am looking at a 396 stroker crank and the rods sitting under my computer desk right now
Shorties arent going to do all I need.

If they have D shape ports they are AS&M if they are oval or round they are RK. I know this for a fact. Good luck figuring it out.

They are round ports. #1 tube has a slip fitting, and they have a 2.5" 3 bolt collector, the Y pipe is actually two pipes running back and had two converters side by side (gone now) and then a y going to the Intermediate pipe.

Sounds like RK to me with their catted y-pipe...I just did alot of research on AS&M and RK...I also spoke with AS&M alot. That setup new is like 1300-1400.

a buddy of mine has dynotech headers with no emission fittings, and his car is lowered i belive 1.5" to 2" and they have decent ground clearance.

I've read many times that Jet Hot LT's will give the best gains... this true?
