Re: headers for 93 and 94

The headers all bolt to the heads.... the differences are in the connections for emissions.

93-95 are all single cat headers - EXCEPT for "CA Emissions" A4 cars, which are dual cat.

94 and 95 single cat headers are identical. 93 headers are different in the way the AIR and EGR connect. The 94-95 headers have an AIR connection on both headers, and an EGR connection on #8 primary. The 93 headers have an AIR connection on the drivers side header and a combined EGR/AIR connection on the passenger side.

96-97 dual cat headers are different, in that the drivers side header will have an oddball triangular flange that the drivers side cat connects to. The AIR and EGR connections are the same as the single cat 94-95 headers, except that the diameter of the AIR connections is smaller on the 96-97 headers.

Might just be easier to tell us what you are trying to do, since if you are deleting emissions, all he headers will bolt right in to any year car.

Re: headers for 93 and 94

If you aren't hooking up AIR or EGR then it doesn't matter what year headers you use. If you use 94 or later headers, and want to hook up AIR and EGR, you will have to do a bit of reconstruction on the AIR pipe that wraps around the rear of the engine and combines with the EGR pipe. Someone with a 93 will have to give you the exact details.

Save yourself a headache, buy headers that are made for the 93.

As long as you don't plan on moving anytime soon you could use 1994 plus headers. All of the hookups for air and all that are on the other side. I have a set of the SLP mids and am very happy with them. You pay a bit more now, but in the long run it will be more than worth it! ;-D

I didn't know 93 Cali cars were dual cat cars. I live in Cali with a 93 Z28 from Illinois. I have one cat. I guess since it came from another state, the smog police doesn't care.

There were no dual cat cars prior to 95. I checked the parts manual to be sure.
