Will Shorty headers bolt straight up to the stock y pipe or would I have to go with mid length. I'm looking at purchasing a set of headers soon and not to sure what to go with

depends what you buy.. they make headers that bolt up to the stock y. not really worth it.. why not longtube/ypipe combo?

pacesetter is a good option. installs easy too

 

I run pacesetters on my Z and i'm very happy with them. A few of the bolt heads had to be ground down to be able to make the angle after I wrapped the headers. Sorta a pain to mount, even out of the car, but with a little time wasn't that bad.
