Headers

Hey guys. I just got my bbk shorties in my 96z. Took it for a test drive today. Theres a more vibration than before. Is that normal? If not then i must have put something back wrong. Another thing. I was thinking about geting some kind of heat shield stuff for the wires down there. How close can a wire be to the header before melt down? couple inches for enough away? Well not just plug wires, i just noticed the o2 wires and such are pretty close. thanks

i think theres a lot of people who noticed that vibration as well, so im sure u'll get replys...i personally didnt

did u use stage 8 lockin bolts?

the wires would be ok as long as there not touching the headers so a few (like 3-4inches) should be ok...did u use ties to hold them away?

Yes on the bolts. The header holes didnt match exacly so we had to do some work to get them on. I knew this going in though so its okay. Why do you ask about the bolts? Bolts can give me vibration problems?

Yeah I used zip ties on some of the wires. I just couldnt get them to far away cause theres isnt much room to play with..
thanks for the reply.

I have the same Headers and did not experience any vibrations. As for the wires as long as they don't touch you should be o.k. you might want to upgrade your wires if you haven't done so.Also you should keep an eye on the bolts the will keep backing off. I would get 1 inch long bolts 3/4 inch are too short.

Yes. It was a number of things actually. My Heat sheild on the pas. side was rattleing a bit. So i just took the thing out. The other problem was the Y pipe was vibrating on the "g force brace" or whatever they call that thing. So i put some washers in there as spacers.

Doing this it did stop some of the vibration and totaly stop the rattling. But I still have a little more vibration than before the install. Im use to it now.

As for my plug wires I replaced them in the header install but i noticed one had gotten burnt. So I have the taylor 8mm over the vavle cover kit comeing from thunder racing.

What i took off was the 5inch piece that rolled up onto the firewall. Not the WHOLE thing. That would just be dumb. And no im not putting back. Its been off for a month and 2, 800 mile road trips. Hasnt burned a hole in my car yet.
