Header question
Header question
header is bolted on to head....but slip tube will not slide on...it will not budge do you have to take the header out first and put it on or can you put the slip tube on with the header bolted on the head...? need help asap..........
Unbolt it from the head ,you need to be able to move it around to get that first primary tube into it. Its pretty tight in there, mainly the only instruction you can give on a header install is patience, i scratched this **** out of mine getting them in and wished i would have taken a break and cooled off first.
so i need to unbolt the rest of the header off the head
the slip tube isnt bolted on, but the rest if completely on
slip tube isnt bolted
so i have to unbolt the rest of the header to get the slip; tube on? OR
can i put it on with the rest in place

I don't follow what you mean by slip tube? Do you mean 2 piece y-pipe? A good piece of advice is take your time and take frequent brakes, I've done two header installs on lt1s and they're tedious and you can get frustrated easily and want to bang crap into place and ruin your headers. So just take your time.
My mistake I just realized that you had macs and one of the primaries is seperate and gets slipped on. I've never done macs before so I cant say for sure but it sounds like you will need to unbolt the header to get it on.
Yeah, unbolt the rest of the header from the head, so it is all free to move around, you might want to take it all out, and slip it in and out several times and twist it around so that you know it will go in there easily, and you might want to put some hight temp rtv on the inside of the slip to seal it better.
