header leak....

I'm still having a problem getting the exhaust leak on my 97 fixed. I took off my headers and everything to fix the stupid leak. I put on copper gaskets for the headers and used a factory gasket on the drivers side between the header and the y pipe. its the flange that looks like an odd triangle with 3 bolts in it. That is where it is leaking fom. The problem is really starting to p*** me off! I'm almost considering selling the d*** things and putting manifolds back on it. HELP!

so its the collector gasket you are having problems with?

If so, go to the exhaust shop and ask for a steel donut. Tell the the diameter of your collector and they should be able to set you up with the right size donut for chump change. Use that steel donut in place of the gasket and you will never have a blow out again.

you can buy the goos metal gaskets for the y-pipe. They have them at my local Pep boys shop. Summit and jegs also have them.

I'm having the same problem buddy. I was told to use stock GM metal gasket right there.... That's what I'm going to try.
