I have recieved my pacesetter LTs and y pipe (from summit). They are being installed tommorow. I recieved my tuned PCM over the weekend (madz28) and installed it (power-tuned for the 160 thermo, and the long tubes). Now I'm greek with this, so bear with me. Will I need new oxygen sensors? If I do buy them, should I wait to put them in until the headers have burned in (2 weeks). Will the other sensors be alright for a couple of weeks? How many 02 sensors would I need for my 97 trans am? And last but not least, when/how would i know when the old sensors are defective-i am minus an air fuel guage. Thanks for the assistance in advance.

 

Its been mentioned quite a few times that new headers will ruin or at least mess up o2 sensors, when I did my jet hot LT's i put new AC delco units in and i never had a issue... so I dunno. If you feel better, just install them after.

Buying new sensors will just ensure proper A/F mixture, now I assume you wont have cats so hopefully the program will adjust for that (being I have a 94, i dont have the same issues).

Generally you will need 4 o2 sensors, for each side, one before the cat and one after.

Bearing in mind with LT headers you need o2 extension wires, you can get 12" ones from various places.

On a odb2 car when a o2 fails or even if its on the way out, you will know it, the SES lights on that car a very twitchy.

So i purchase all the sensors on this page. Do I need both connecters? Do i need either connecters? Also, what's the best site for extensions?

 

My O2's were fine after the Jet Hot install.
