Header Install

Ok so I just read that thread about the jackstands and am a little worried about doing the header install. I am planning on putting them in within the next couple weeks. When I jack the car up, is it necessary to have it up on jackstands for the install or would it work if I put the car up on 4 ramps? I have a set of the rino ramps and my boy has another set that I could borrow.

If I need to use the jackstands, where exactly do I place them?

Thanks
Decker

When I did my header install, I had the back of the car up on ramps, and the front jacked up as high as possible with 4 jackstands placed under the front subframes. (2 per side)

If your freaked out about being under the car...what I did was drive the car up on ramps. That should be good enough. Just make sure you have the car in park and put bricks behind the rear wheels. Those ramps should be able to hold 3,500 pounds. Even when properly using jack stands and they are maintained well...your car is not going anywhere. I would definatelly make sure that those ramps are in excellent condition if they are plastic. If it has any cracks, dont use them. In case you wonder how I do it, I use ramps for the front and I use stands up front as well for precaution. Look under your car on the sides, youll see where you can place it. Use your chiltons book or Haynes or whatever for a guide.
