header glow normal???
header glow normal???
last night I was havin fun doing dounghts on the snow for about 10 minutes. I was looking under the hood after i was done and noticed that my headers were glowing red. Is there a problem with my car or is this this just the headers just getting hot from reving between 3-5k for a little while???
Re: header glow normal???
Definetly not normal... Like the others said, I would check for exhaust restriction then maybe fuel delivery, maybe it's running a little lean? I've seen header primary tubes glow red when a motor is SEVERELY leaned out. I would check it out before going out cutting anymore doughnuts in the snow.
Re: header glow normal???
Well one of the driver side header header bolts backed out I tightened it up but a part of the gasket missing now so it is leaking some exaust. I am guessing that this is making it run rich, cause it seems to pop a lot more then it did before that bolt backed out.
Ill replaced the gaskets this weekend and see what happens

Only time IVe witnessed header glow is when the actual motor is Fairly lean.
