Definetly not normal... Like the others said, I would check for exhaust restriction then maybe fuel delivery, maybe it's running a little lean? I've seen header primary tubes glow red when a motor is SEVERELY leaned out. I would check it out before going out cutting anymore doughnuts in the snow.

Actually header glow IS normal... if you are running excessively rich.

Re: header glow normal???

Well one of the driver side header header bolts backed out I tightened it up but a part of the gasket missing now so it is leaking some exaust. I am guessing that this is making it run rich, cause it seems to pop a lot more then it did before that bolt backed out.

Ill replaced the gaskets this weekend and see what happens

How is this so?

Only time IVe witnessed header glow is when the actual motor is Fairly lean.

I to thought it was from running very lean.

Re: header glow normal???

it is from running lean, running rich cools down the exhaust charge, not heat it up.

I think you have that backwards...glowing headers would come from a rich condition...(excessive unburned fuel).

Header glow comes from a significantly rich condition. Learned that one from Injuneer.

Maybe the rockers improperly adjusted? If they are to tight it'll cause them to glow.
