header gaskets installed dry??

I'm trying to track down a header leak and I have seen it both ways here. Do you recommend installing the gaskets dry or with some additional sealer???

I didn't use any gasket sealer on mine, and they seem leak free.

I have heard from a few people that have used the copper gaskets (dry i am assuming) that they have leaked. They have had better luck with the cheaper gaskets for the headers. Just thought i would throw that outthere

I just replaced my Mr Gasket Copper Header gaskets....

They were leaking on 6 out of the 8 cylinders...

I'm now running the Earls (Parker) Polygraphite/Aluminum header gaskets... sealed up perfectly.

I'd recommend installing the gasket dry. For one thing the sealer stuff makes it messy the next time you want to change your gasket. Also, the sealer stuff is just a band aid for a bigger problem. If your headers still leak after trying several types of gaskets, your header flange may be warped. In that case the best fix is to have your flange flattened.
