header gaskets??
header gaskets??
i blew out my old header gaskets....and i replaced em with some cheap paper ones...but a bolt wobbled loose and then i blew the paper gasket apart...soo i decided that i would try the cooper gaskets!! well i got the mr. gasket copper ones for the d-port...and i still have a leak...its quite at idle...but man i give it gas u can really hear it!! soo i let the car warm up....then shut it off soo it would cool down...then i tightened them again...still a leak??? wtf??? should i use different gaskets???
Re: header gaskets??
The only gaskets I've ever gotten to work were the Earls Aluminum/Carbon gaskets. They cost about $40 but they sealed up great, and didn't even require re-torquing.
These were the ONLY ones, I tried just about every other type/brand out there, and these were the best.

Re: header gaskets??
i have used those ones that are 4 or 5 strips of aluminum (maybe stainless steel but it hink they are aluminum) they are awesome. I don't know what brand or anything but they work great
Re: header gaskets??
If you're blowing header gaskets, you might consider better bolts. As soon as a bolt loosens, no gasket is going to hold up. Standard Fel-pros will work just fine. Without turning this thread into a Breslin bolt promotion, do a search on them and you'll find plenty of info.
