Header gasket for pace setter lt's

Just looking for some experience with pacesetters and gaskets. I just blew the gasket on the back lefthand side after two weeks. Never had any trouble with the shorties I use to run. Would appeciate input on a more reliable gasket. the ones we used were from orielly they are silver and quite thin IMHO. PN's etc please.

I was told recently that the stock header gaskets are the best ones available, all though I don't really believe it.

I've been using the 1406 for a while now, as well as many others on the board, with no problems that I have noticed

I used the Copper Gaskets from Mr. Gasket. No problems. Felpros are good, the multi-layer (Percy) Styles are good, and yes I had also heard that the stock gaskets worked well. (I do know that they will cut the $hit out of you if you are not careful when removing them )

Just be sure your header flanges are straight, head surface is clean, us a good inside to out tightning pattern and recheck them several times while cold over the course of a week or so.

Re: Header gasket for pace setter lt's

Compare the pacesetter gaskets to any aftermarket gasket and you will see a night and day difference. I used the Fel-Pro 1406 gaskets sprayed with copper adhesive spray and haven't had any problems whatsoever. Also, if you blew your gasket, are you sure the bolts are tight? They tend to loosen so you need to periodically check the torque on them.

Yes, Just checked the bolts and guess what, the retart shop i just went too recently loosened all the bolts to try and adjust the headers so they wouldn't hit so badly and didn't tq a single one down ! Anyway. luckly the other side didnt; to the same thing. What is the tq required for these header bolts. is it the same as with manifolds. I don;t have the instructions anymore. 30 flt lbs? And mine dont have washers. anyone else not have washers from pacesetter?
