header gasket help!!!!!

well am putting pacsetter mids on now and got gaskets at advanced auto but it looks like the very outside botl holes do nto line up. All they had were the Felpro replacement gaskets, i think theya re for stock manifolds. are the stock manifold and headers gaskets different?

Re: header gasket help!!!!!

Yep they are different. I was going to use the FEL-PRO's cause the looked better than the JET-HOTS gasket. I installed the ones that come with my headers instead.

Re: header gasket help!!!!!

the stock exhaust manifolds use different holes than headers, you have to drill the 2 outer holes for the headers....be carefull, those piece of **** fel-pro's will bind up and tear VERY easily on a drill bit.
i'm using factory exhaust manifold gaskets.

Re: header gasket help!!!!!

I dont know if i can help out a texas tech fan. ha ha, jk. Go get sbc gaskets if your on a budget, if u dont ever want to deal with changing gaskets again, buy a set of percy aluminum lt1 gaskets and a set of stage8 locking bolts. They will run u about 80, but to never have to change gaskets there priceless. Take it from a header gasket replacing pro, it sucks, buy the good stuff and you dont have to worry about it.

Re: header gasket help!!!!!

yea I have heard those are good but if you overtorque header bolts they get messed up. I might just go with the felpro 1406 ones

Re: header gasket help!!!!!

I used mr. gasket ultra seals from autozone with my bbks. Copper SUCKS!!! stay away from those. I would really recommend the percys, they are supppeerrr thick, ive used pretty much all of the gaskets and the percy's are the best, hands down. The felpros werent bad, i liked the ultra seals over them though. -Michael

im running fel-pro 1406 with pacesetters. I installed pacesetters on my buddies LS1 and we used the cheapo gaskets that came with the pacesetters and he hasnt had any problems yet.
