Header Differences for LT1 Motors?

Ok, so I am shopping for a set of LT's for my 95z28. While doing so I came across a few that say 93-95, 96-97, 95-97, and all sorts of mixes inbetween. My question is, what is the difference. If they have the same motor shouldnt fitment be the same? I thought the only big difference in the lt1 years was the optispark change. Also if yesars make a difference, will it make a difference in teh y-pipe that I have a drop top? Thanks in advance

The difference is emissions. If you have to follow emissions you need to get the correct header for your application. The 96-97 design really sucks because they're designed to keep the cats in the stock location.

ok so I have removed all my EGR stuff, so I can use any header for the lt1 motor right? also is the y-pipe fitment going to be an issue with my car being a convertable?

I am interested in this also, so if your not using any air/egr and going with an ORY, then any of the headers would fit, correct? Mine is a 97 and I know I have 4 O2 sensors.

Yes if you don't have to worry about emissions you can put any 93-97 Fbody header on your car. Here are some pics of the two different styles its easy to see which style flows better.
