Header and Collector gasket question

Hey guys, I have a dyno tune appointment comming up with FLP. I'm going through the car to tie up any loose ends. I want to make sure my exhaust has no leaks so as to not throw of the oxygen sensors for my tune. I currently have the paper gasket kit that came with my Jet Hots installed on the car with a small leak. I talked to FLP and they recommended a good fiber one. So I need a brand and part number for some good fiber header and collector gaskets. Keys to remember are as follows:

-I have Jet-Hot Long tubes

-gaskets that work for Hooker2231's will work for the Jet Hots as well

-they have an oval style port

~Thanks

I have jethots and every gasket I have tried has leaked on me. I think the fel-pros leaked on me because I never tightened them up after the 1st time I started it though. I'm going to give earls a try this time.

also the key is to tighten the inside bolts first before the end ones so as to not bend the flange outward...good luck

I had this problem.

Go with the Earls soft aluminim header gaskets. You can get them at summit.

I put then one once and have had no leaks for over 1 year.

Also you can order just the inserts so if you ever have to take of the headers you dont need to buy the whole gasket set again.

I have tried nearly every collector gasket and I like the steel core laminate the best. These are what I am using now and like them the best.

The aluminum worked decent but I thought they tended to stress and deform the flanges, the coppers IMHO were a total joke cause they were so thin and lacked conformability. They may work fine and brand new perfectly flat flanges.

The steel core laminate type have a certain amount of "plushness" which conforms best to the two flanges. Mine are actuall a tad bent from the aluminum gasket, but the steel core laminate gasket seals perfectly. Pust they are dirt cheap.

Header gasket, Fel-Pro 1406.
