Header bolt question.

I have a exhaust manifold bolt (the rear drivers side) broke off in the head. I have read that this bolt is not used by most headers. Can someone confirm this? It's a 95 trans am btw.

That bolt is most certainly used on all headers.

x2. Hopefully it can be drilled out and you don't need to buy new heads.

The broken bolts there are common and they can be removed but it's difficult with the engine in the car. Some guys have welded a nut to it and removed it that way. The ones I did, I pulled the head and it was a pain but they came out.

I sent a email to Lpp after I posted here and they claim their headers do not use it but use another hole that is closer to the exhaust port.

i've had two sets of lt1 headers... slp shorties for 96-97 and jet hot long tubes for 93-95 ... neither use the outter bolt holes like the stock manifolds...

My LPPs use the inner holes, while my MACs used the outer holes.

I'll be ordering my LPPs in a month or so. Not looking forward to the install at all but I know it will be worth it.

It was like that when I got the car a few weeks ago. I heard a exhaust leak but couldn't track it down till a few days ago. I had to have someone give it gas while I put a hose to my ear and moved it around the manifold. It's only leaking when you get on it hard. Otherwise it's quiet.

Was swapping headers on my beater camaro and the rear bolt was broke off in the head. I'll let you know which one the Hooker LT's use.
