Header bolt head size

anyone recommend a header bolt that has a smaller head than say what Jeg's sales or what you can buy off the shelf at Advanced auto....

I am having a leak at the #6 primary, I think it is due to the bolt head not really being able to pass the primary and seat on the flange, it feels tight but I think it is a clearance issue.

I had thought about the allen wrench headed ones and I could cut down the head and still be able to wrench it with the allen wrench.

How about some stainless steal ARP 12pt header bolts.
I'm going to give them a try when I get my headers coated.

Re: Header bolt head size

What headers are you running? As for header bolts, you can't go wrong with the Brelins. If you have a bit of length left on the bolt, you could try a washer or some type of spacer between the bolt head and the flange. Did you replace the gasket once it leaked? If not, it'll never seal in my experience...

Re: Header bolt head size

Used set of Hooker LTs with copper header gaskets.
the spacer idea i might try this weekend.
Would running 2 paper style gaskets possibly work?

Yeah i tried copper gaskets and that didnt seal so i doubled up on the paper gaskets that they sent with the headers. So far its been working like a champ.
