head work. need advice
im planning on dropping my lt1 heads off at a local shop tomorrow(nelson bros.).
2.02 / 1.60 valves, shave the heads a tiny bit and cut out/clean up the intake ports for $700. he suggested that i leave the exhaust ports alone, which i couldnt figure out why because everybody i talk to says especially spraying, you want more exhaust flow. he said he would still do it if i want though so it will probably be a little more. but what do you guys think. they've been around for a while, pretty big shop, and i've heard good things about them.
btw...i already have the cc305 cam, crane 1.6 rr's, and 10308 springs. and spraying 150

Re: head work. need advice
Just because they are a big shop and have a good reputation doesn't mean that they know what they are doing. Even if they are good at the actual machine work, that doesn't make them qualified to spec custom motors and do portwork.
Re: head work. need advice
the price i got was including reseating them for the new valves. well hopefully all will work out. i'll post up the dyno results when i get it back together
Re: head work. need advice
I would say get your stuff and take it to a more knowledgable place. You don't leave it to chance that they are going to know what they are doing. A high output enigne is totally different than a non performance one.
Re: head work. need advice
They are going to check guide condition/install 16 seats/shoot valve job/surface / and port for $700
Add - SS valve set and price for 16 seats...
Somthing don't add up there....
