I was under the assumption that the heads were at this shop for a full port job. If that's the case than it isn't going through all the extra work, the work is getting done anyway. It's more about the added cost of the valves. I wouldn't pay for this stuff JUST for larger valves but I might go for larger valves if I am paying to have it ported.

Let's say the porter knows what the hell he is doing and does take full advantage of the larger valves. Let's say this yields just a 2% increase in power over stock size. On a 450 fwhp engine this is 10 hp.

Is 10hp worth $250? That's about what people are spending, dollars per hp, on effective modifications like cat-backs and certainly better than less effective mods like larger TB's.

Your last line is 100% correct, cant argue that.
But back to the valves, lol.
Sticking with the stock bottem end, and not spinning it more then 6k RPM. Would a 3 angle valve job suffice for what I am shooting for?

Well, the heads will be done Friday ( but wont be able to pick them up till Monday, due to me being out of town ). We went with the econo port, instead of the race ready head.

I dont want to get ahead of myself, but I have a cam already ( not sure if it is going to be the one I use or not ) and its a 209/217, 113 LSA, w/.550 lift w/a 1.6 RR.
Does this cam seem suitable for this application? and what kinda gains am I looking at?
