Head Gaskets

Well if you read my post in the drag racing section, you know i blew a head gasket on my car in sig last nite, it is a constant drip out the tail pipes. But hey finnally got in the 12's. lol!! Will the felpros 1074 work better than the gm impalla gaskets i was currently using? I only got about 1400 miles on these things, I need a better gasket than that dont want to be changing head gaskets all the time. I am not really worried about the .010 difference in the thickness. Any suggestion will be great appreaciated.

Lot's of people use Impy gaskets with no problems, I think the standard is the Felpro 1074.

Thanks guys I will try the Felpros this time around. Prolly just my luck with the impala gaskets, who know but to have one go bad after so few miles and only race it maybe 7 passes, I want to try something else. Just to ease my mind.

I just got a set of Multi layered, coated ones off of Ebay that are 3 layers stainless and then coated, both for like 70.00 after shipping
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...MEWA:IT&ih=017

Take a look. they came in a felpro box and wrapping. I tossed the wrapper.. SOrry.
I'm going to uset hem on my headjob next month. (96z)

That link didnt work but i will try to find them. What is the compressed thickness of them? Has any one used the Mr.Gasket 5716's head gaskets? Good bad ok? I am leaning to just running the GM Impala ones again.

Those are not LT1 head gaskets, they are SBC. The LT1 head gasket is LT1 specific, because of the reverse cooling. I am going with the Fel-Pro 9966PT.

Could be issues with why the gaskets blew so early. Have you ensured the heads are true? What about the deck?
