Head gasket on upside down?

Talking to a friend of mine, he seemed to think I installed my head gaskets with the wrong side up. I know there's a "This side up" on the gasket, so I'm 98% sure this isn't the case, but for arguments sake what's the symptoms of a head gasket installed upside down?

Re: Head gasket on upside down?

On a ford it will misdirect the flow of coolant and cause posible overheating and cavitation. The SBC gaskets are symetrical so that wouldn't be an issue...so I'm not really sure, haven't tried it and that's not fun R&D.
