head gasket selection

I'm rebuilding my 94 LT-1 and have been reading bout the different head gaskets everyone's been using and everything. Now my question is, how much compression do you actually gain with the impala ss gaskets. And what is the benefit of the felpro 1074 head gasket. The motor is gonna be a 355 and will be around the stock compreesion. Thanks for the help

Re: head gasket selection

If you go with a thinner head gasket you can gain up to one half of a point.

You mention the 355 will be around stock compression, but how do you know that if you haven't selected the head gasket?

Go here and play with the calculators. http://www.wallaceracing.com/Calculators.htm

You running a stock camshaft? How about a build list?

LT1's are compression ****** and I like it. Joe and I are both over 12:1 in our "street" LT1's.

Re: head gasket selection

I would use the victor reinz 5898 gasket; that is what I have on my le1 355 with no problems.
