Head Gasket or Not? That is the question...

Yeterday I started the car up and some white smoke was coming out of my exhaust. When if first strted up it idled funny, kind of sluggish, so i gave her a few revs and it seemed to level out. But after the idle seemed normal tons of white smoke was bellowing for the exhaust. I took it for drive around the corner the whole time leaving a trail of white heavy smoke.

I got home thinking head gasket?

I had to move the car out of the way this morning to let my wife's car out of the driveway. She started up fine no smoke. took it on the same round the corner trip as yesterday, no smoke. Let her idle in the driveway to get up to operating temperature. No overheating, no smoke. Coolant level appears ok.

Please be advised my car is running mint since my tranny swap. While that was going on the motor was torn down up to the heads and refreshed with new gaskets, tightening everytnig up , new timeing chain/gears, plug wires, new hoses readiator, the works.

Anyone know what the smoke incident was all about? Do I have reason for concern.

Thanks for your replies...

I say head gasket...mine was the same.
I guess there wasnt much pressure in the cooling system when you pulled your car out for your wife.

Well I just let the car run in the driveway for a 1/2 hour. The thermostat dfinately opened and I let it run for 10 minutes after that. Still no white smoke.

Could something else created the white smoke incident?

I let it sit for a 1/2 hour went to start it. This time it started rough & idled rough, gave it gas and the white smoke started pouring out again

Doesn't look good
