head gasket choice

Hey Guys,

Putting the car back together and i want to put a nitrous head gasket in. The engine is a 355 11:1 CR forged stock heads ported and a CC305 cam planning on running about 100 shot of nitrous. So what is a good head gasket to run ???? thanxs grant

I would go for the cometic head gaskets .040 thickness.

Is the block zero decked? What size chambers are the heads? What's the dish on the pistons? All this and more will affect what gasket you choose. Unless you're running over a 250 shot or so, then it won't really matter either.

Based on what?


You probably waht to shoot for roughly .035 quench so dig out the paperwork see what your deck height is and then pick from this list to get close to .035 total.

Victor Rienz 5898 .026 compressed
Cometic .027 compressed or thicker they have many options the deck and head surfaces have to be quite well machined and smooth is the only drawback they are reusable which is a nice bonus

"Impala" gasket from GM .029 compressed
Felpro .039 compressed

These aren't "nitrous" gaskets but are all quality pieces that will do the trick for your modest setup.

Cometics take a special finish on the heads and block to work.
