Head choices.

Has anybody else noticed that we(the LT1 community) have more choices on heads than we ever have in the last ~8-10 years. Allow me to list them if you werent aware. We have Stock ported, Edelbrock,TEA,Trick Flow, and Dart. Even if some of the offerings arent worth the money I stll think its a good thing for us.

Is that all? I thought there were more than that.

Maybe it's just that there are so many different stock ported options.

We still have a decent aftermarket offering, probably not as much as some LTx enthusiasts would like to see though.

The thing is the offereings largely are not that good.

Could be argued the Trickflow is the only good aftermarket casting in the bunch. I know that will **** off a lot of folks who believe in names but sometimes the truth is not pretty.

Yes we have more options than ever before BUT results say ported LT1 castings are still pretty much king of the hill, biggest problem there is the supply is ever smaller between heads that have been overheated or hacked up.

Actually, that was 96capricemgr saying that and not necessarily “all results” in “all situations.” Again, only one person’s opinion here on the fourm.

Some guys spend gobs of cash and manage to go somewhat fast, other spend less and go faster, often times the difference is understanding what actually works vs. what a magazine told them works and spend their money more appropriately.

I know someone who will be selling AFRs to put ported stock castings on his LT1 if anyone is interested, should happen in the next month or so. He finally saw the difference between RESULTS and marketing.
Will be changing the cam too but going to a smaller one with the ported stock castings. I am pretty confident what the results will be and will share them either way.

Exactly! All about researching before you buy. I think advertisings one of the main problems with the world today. Just because the television, the news, the media, a magazine says it its gotta be true . Dont people understand that there is someone to profit from all of that...so of course they are going to try and convince you to buy their products or watch their show or even have bull sh** info so people will watch/read. The more people that read/watch the more money they can get from advertisers/comercials.

Does anyone have any of the new Dart heads on their car? What about ported ones? Brad

Brodix will mold the Track 1 heads for us LT1 guys also. I've talked to them before I purchased my converted heads. You can get the track ones to flow in the 340 range if you are building a nasty SR.

These heads may be a little big for most of the street cars that are running around. So you can have a set of stock heads ported for less money. Then with the right mild cam you will have a lot of torque right off idle and at the low rpm most street cars cruise at.
