Head & cam removal guide

I put this together when I did my head and cam install. At the moment it's in two pieces in Microsoft Word. First document is the writeup, second is the labeled pictures to go with the writeup.

To keep the size down I had to compress the pictures, so they aren't really print quality. Even so the picture file is still 15MB. Best to right click & save. A few people have the big version that can be shared if interested or I can send it over AIM.

Let me know what you think. All comments are welcome. I'm sure I did some unnecessary steps or some things in a way that could have been easier!

I also have one for an engine removal.

Looks good. Thanks

So how is your car running? My setup will be VERY close to yours. I'm going with LE2 heads, LE1 cam, 1.6 pro mags, mac midlengths, hi flow cat, etc..

How many miles are on your motor?

About 55K on the motor and I spun a bearing after 700 with the new setup. Doing a 383 now.

Yeah it was a rod bearing. And just because you do a cam swap doesn't mean you'll spin a bearing. Go for it.

Re: Head & cam removal guide

o geez. Did you change your timing set? Did you change the oil immediately after running the engine for 10 minutes on initial start? What were you spinning the motor to?

Any ideas what might have caused it? I'll be starting my heads/cam swap in a few weeks...
