head and cam install

Alright I about ready to install my heads and cam. I just have a few questions.....

1st: What gaskets and seals will i need to do the change?

2nd: Will I need different valve covers for my 1.6 rr?

3rd: I have the stock lifters in right now, will i need different ones, or will the stock ones be fine?

4th: What else do I need for the car, I'm installing the heads, cam, rr, gaskets, anything else I'm missing?????

Let me know what ya guys think.

1. Head, timing cover, intake, water pump, oil pan (not 100% necessary), and valve cover (if you like) gaskets. Should be all of them.

2. No but you'll have to clearance them for the RR's.

3. Its really up to you. No you dont need lifters if they're in good shape and dont have TOO many miles. Stock replacement Comps or Crane lifters would be good for peace of mind. Plus you're already in there.

4. You'll need pushrods after you use a length checker if you swap lifters but its a good idea to check the length anyway. What kind of RR's? SA or NSA? NSA's will need GM guideplates (8) at about $2 a piece for Jason Cromer. If you're going 7/16 RR's you'll need studs too. Dont forget new head bolts. Injectors too. That should pretty much cover it. Dont think I left anything out.

for number 2, how do i clearance them??? I have SA, so no need for the guideplates, and they are 3/8 rr's.

I've only read about it and there are many posts on the subject. Basically you'll cut into the supports where the rockers come in contact the the valve cover. Pretty much a trial and error thing

Your new timing cover set should come with all the necessary front cover seals (wp, opti, crank).
