Hawk HP Plus Pad Install Question
Hawk HP Plus Pad Install Question
I got a set of Hawk HP Plus front pads for my LT1 a few months ago.
I finally dropped the car off at my wrench today.
He called me to say the inboard pad clip is riveted lower than the stock clip. Only one half of the clip touches the piston.
Is that normal?
Also, the pads don't come with anti squeal shims. Are the pads so quiet they dont need shims?
TIA

I put HP+ on my fronts last summer, took me about 15 minutes to pop out the old ones and snap in the new ones....I don't remember any problems with the clips. Since I am using mine for track days only, I didn't worry about the anti-squeal shims, and besides the +'s are race compound and squeal like a banshee....very annoying for everyday use. The HPS's are supposed to be much quieter. You might want to get some of that anti squeal gel that you put on the back of the pad before you install. You can get it at just about any parts store.

If it took 15 minutes I would assume the pad clips were riveted in the same place on both sets of pads.
I think I just got a bad set and will deal with the vendor next week. I will live for a few years with new bendix pads since the car is apart at my wrench.
