having trouble putting in waterpump driveshaft seal!!

I am having a hard time puttin on this seal. I keep on damaging it. Any ideas or tricks to put this on. It just seems too tight!

Thanks Mark

Get one of those cone shaped caps that comes on a bottle of gear lube and put it on the end of the shaft. The seal will slip off it onto the shaft without damaging the seal.

Use a tapered socket and lube that is the same OD as the shaft and stretch it. PM me if you need a seal. I have extras around.

hmm. I just slipped it over the coupler to get the 'lips' to seat the proper way and then just slid the coupler on the shaft and then transferred the seal from the coupler to shaft carefully.

Spray the seal with a little silicone spray lubricant, and slide it evenly down the shaft. The seal is tight, because it has elastically.

Ditto... use the coupler itself as an installation tool.

Install the seal into the cover, then slide the coupler through the seal on the cover, then seat the cover, carefuly sliding it down the coupler until it seats over the waterpump driveshaft.

Thomas.
