Question Have oil leak at waterpump driveshaft, should i replace opti?

I replaced my optispark witha dealer unit in July, and not knowing that I had to replace the waterpump driveshaft seal, put it back together, and now i have a small oil leak from the driveshaft seal. The opti has a lifetime warranty, and I'm wondering if I should just go ahead and exchange mine for a new one while I'm installing a new waterpump and seal?

is it gonna cost you to replace the opti? if not then i would do it... otherwise you could just take it apart and clean all the oil out if there is any.. that's what i did with mine. i finallly got fed up with that effin seal and just put an electric WP on and bypassed the damn WP seal all thgether

Question Electric waterpump

InjectedSS,
How did you block off the waterpump driveshaft on the block? Thinking about getting electric waterpump.
Forgot to add, it's not gonna cost me to replace opti!

No, just replace the seal and be careful not to tear the new one when you install it and you should be fine. I would also replace the O rings on the water pump driveshaft at the same time.

i would do it then for sure... i blocked my off by removing the timing cover, and then removing the shaft from the block. i have the hole where the shaft usually goes blocked off with a freeze plug and some copper gasket maker.... thankgod i don't have to deal with ANYMORE LEAKING... just stopping the leak was well worth putting that $110 electric WP on... now the extra HP is just a plus

here is what my timing cover looks like now TIMING COVER notice the orange where the WP driveshaft usually goes... that's the copper gasket maker

If its not gonna cost anything then why not?
I too had to replace that damn seal when I did my opti recently, the guys on here told me how to do it so I would not trash the seal again. I mangled one and then did what I should have done in the first place and got on here and asked how to get it on.
Yep gotta be careful with that seal, its real easy to tear it up trying to install it.
