Have a engine noise need help?

I havent driven my T/A in the last 2 months because i was puttting in a new dash. Well i got it in and started driving it and i noticed that it now makes a noise simular to an exhaust leak or when the rockers need re-torqued but then it goes away when the car is warmed up so i thought it couldnt be one of those things any suggestions.

thanks

Definetely an exhaust leak....Most likely exhaust manifold/header gasket.

The gasket is contracted when cold and it leaks. Once it's warmed up, it expands and the leak goes away.

I guess now is the best time to put headers on then!

Did you fix your noise? I have a similar noise that appeared today on my 94 Z28 and it goes away once you warm up the car.

My noise was a loud clattering on the driver's side of the engine compartment that would go away once the car was driven a few blocks. Turns out that the 2 back exh manifold bolts were broken off in the head. I have both heads off getting them freshened up and I'm going back together with MAC headers.

Thanks,
Glenn

It could also possibly just be a lifter thats draining all its oil when it sets, Piston slap that goes away is ok too, if it goes away with warming up youre good.

Could be many things. Lifters can go bad and tick for awhile until warmed up. Also you can have piston slap that will go away when warmed up.. Rocker adjustment usually will be constant and not go away when warmed up.. Lack of oil up top can also cause noises until it pumps up...

Mine at least sounds more like a pump or fan. It is a constant high pitched wine opposed to a lifter tick or piston slap.

edit: not a belt though - not that high pitched.
