long story short, i heard the belt squeek, smelled a strange smell, pulled into my garage when suddenly the waterpump decided to explode all over EVERYTHING.

worst part is that its only 5 months old... is there a warranty on the opti? i ordered it from the guy in fort walton beach. what his number? i hope he's open on the weekend...

also, the waterpump is an autozone one... piece of sh*t... will they give me my money back after 5 months? its got a warranty... and will they pay for my optispark?

Why do you assume the opti is toast? My water pump leaked for a few thousand miles and my opti was fine (though, they do not all seem to have the same integrity of seal).

I doubt Jason is there on the weekend. Plus, the opti would be warranted for defects, not by damage from outside causes.

No, AZ is not going to replace anything but the WP. Heck, they would not even take a O2 socket back that did not have the package.

the car was missing before i turned it off.

actually, i turned it on again to move it forward into the garage 2 feet and it didn't seem to be missing, so maybe its still good.

Autozone sold me balljoints that were supposed to fit my car, but when they didn't I removed them but they had stretched out the hole in my A arm so a new GM part wouldn't press in. I had to buy a new A arm. I showed Autozone what I had gone through because of their crappy balljoints and in the end I was able to recover $50. The manager says that's the most they can hand over, it's called a "customer satisfaction" payoff. If you want to recover your full expenses you'd have to open a claim with Autozone, but the manager said those take forever, if ever. Good Luck!

Well I work PT at AutoZone and I think it's totally a manager thing. No, this isn'ta plug or them, but our main manager is VERY forgiving with any returns, used or not. He says 'cause the customer will be satisfied that we rectified the problem and they will come back because they know if it's wrong, we'll take care of it. I have been there since August and I can't EVER remember them declining a return of any type.

Aren't all the replacement pumps they sell at Autozone rebuilt? The Autozone pumps have lifetime warranties so there shouldn't be a problem getting an exchange or refund I'd imagine. They won't pay for the opti though. Car parts store almost always have a policy that states they're not responsible for damage to your car because of faulty parts.
