There cables are a good bit cheaper than akm electronics. I want to use freescan with it. What do you guys think?

 

I bought some cheap cable from a lesser known vendor, no one I know can tell how it works...there is no box in the middle, it's simply 3 wires to a serial connection...but it works great.

(I'm OBD1 BTW)

 

what vendor did ya pick that one up from? I got one from akm & it got thrown out during a car cleaning, so a cheaper replacement would be nice.

 

I bought one from them about a year ago. Its a good product. It has a connecter for the serial port, and a plug for the cigarette lighter, as well as the pin for the ALDL port. It also came with a jumper for GM cars that require one. Your car shouldn't require the jumper. I've used it 5-6 times never had a problem. They ship pretty quick too if I remeber.

Ok thanks guys. It says on the website that there no cigarette lighter plug on this cable because it picks up 12 volts off of the diagnostic plug in the car.

 

I bought the cheapo serial cable years ago. It worked fine.

 

Their cables work fine with a serial connection.

 

I got my stuff from moates.net, no complaints.
