harmonic ballancer movement

Hello, I have a 1995 Camaro Z28. I just rebuilt the engine 60 miles ago. I put upgraded lifters, little bit bigger cam, board 30 over, forged flattop pistons, and I noticed when I lift it in the air the I looked at the harmonic balancer and it looked like it was moving a little too much (maybe a quarter inch back and forth). Is that normal or do you think I need a new balancer? I just bought the car recently, the vehicle has 128,000 miles and I don't know it's history. Please give me some info.

It is time to replace. The rubber has gotten hard and is no longer doing its' job.

Re: harmonic ballancer movement

The hub/balancer should have absolutely no movement from the crank.
