Hardend pushrods?

I have a 95 LT1, I believe I have hardend factory pushrods. If I run guideplates, NSA RR can I use factory pushrods? No cam yet, will replace when I do the cam.

Pushrods are not that expensive. Buy a set of comp hardened pushrods and call it a night.

Please just do a search on this. In fact put my name in there and you will get a world of information where you need to go with this.

Comp would not be my choice for PR's. They are overpriced. If you need really good PR's, go to Manton. If you just need a decent piece, Lunati has a selection of lower price PR's that work well.

You're right, Comp just seems to be the one that you can buy anywhere though. Regardless, you DO need hardened pushrods.

I wouldnt use the stock ones with guide plates... They were supposed to be hardened but they are still not up to the task.

Not a big fan of Comp eaiter. I took the advice of several of the more experienced guys here and bought Manton's. Expensive, but worth it. I bought some serious push rods too though. I would recommend the Manton's to anyone.

There are a couple of good performance push rod manufactures out there. Do a search and i know there are a few threads with links in them. For your needs they dont have to be expensive.

My 1995 LT1 did NOT have hardened push rods, when I dragged a file across them you could tell they were being cut.

See if yours pass the file test. If they are hardened then the file wont leave the slightest scratch or blemish.

Hardened Pushrods = Pushrods with a harder surface from heat treating they are not stronger just for use with GUIDEPLATES

Chromoly Pushrods = Normally hardened for use with guideplates and made of a higher quality stronger steel that has a thicker wall.

FWIW Manton has non hardened pushrods for use with shaft mount setups that are very strong and very large, "hardened" should NOT be viewed as the defining choice if the PR are good or not.

Good Read http://web.camaross.com/forums/showthread.php?t=501667

Agreed. The trickflow pushrods are the same exact ones as the comp hi-tech ones, but at 1/2 the cost. They are made by the same place to the same specs, but instead of saying comp on them they say trickflow.
