come to think of it, service engine soon and check gauges isn't supposed to stay on like that, is it? it goes away once the engine is started, though. But I'm not getting any codes with my autoxray scanner. Gas mileage has decreased too, about 30 or so miles less than usual in a tank.

Ok, I'm going to try squirting fuel into the intake while cranking, as earlier suggested, I didn't have the chance to before. I'm just going to get a spray bottle and fill it with gas and use that, I need that for my '70 anyhow.

So, should I turn it off if/after it starts from this or quickly put on the intake elbow? How will it run without it? Is it dangerous to do this? I can see a flame backfiring in my face from this. If it starts from doing this, what does it prove? Obviously fuel, but what? bad injectors? Still not sure why this only happens after sitting or is at least much much worse.

I tried gas in the intake, also some starting fluid I had - no change. I even considered that the cut to fit msd plug wires that I made on one side during the head gasket swap were done wrong and bought a cheap set and tried those, and still no change.

Put a plug and plug wire on the coil and have someone crank it over while you look for spark there.

Ok, got it, it was the MSD coil. I had swapped it back and forth a few times for another issue, I thought I had changed it regarding this starting issue, but I had done so so much stuff to the car in the past few months I thought I had, but then remembered that I hadn't. So I put the stock coil on last night and it worked, thanks for all the help.
