Hard starting with a ses light

I have been searching for a while and cannot find my issue.
I have a jeep with a 94 lt1 it started cranking for a while before starting 10 to 15 seconds. When it starts it runs great. I have checked fuel preasure it does not bleed down and is 40 psi at cranking. The optispark is about 6 months old so I hope that is not the problem. The ses light is on all the time now. Could I have a few hint to look for the problem with out reading the engine codes as our autozone says that they cannot read the obd1 codes. thanks for the help in advance since this is my first post. Great site by the way.

The SES is there to tell you where to look first. Scanning is the best way to get started tracking the trouble down. A scanner will pay for itself in a short time vs. replacing parts that are not broken.
