Hard to start when cold

When my car is cold and has been sitting for a few hours and I go to try and start it, it has to crank over a few times before it starts. When the car is warm, it will start right up. Anyone have any ideas as to why it might be doing this?

Re: Hard to start when cold

Maybe your fuel presure regulater leaking causing you to lose fuel presure need for start up. IF you have a fuel presure tested put it on the car and turn the key to on then turn the car off and see how long it takes to lose presure.

Also take off the vacume hose from the FPR and see if their is any gas in it (indicating the FPR is leaking)

If you are still loseing presure with the car off and it isnt the FPR then it could be the fuel pump our a leaking injector...do a search for those for info on how to test for them.

You might also want to check that the coolant temp sensor is providing an accurate temperature.
