Hard to start, sometimes

Basically here is whats going on with my 95z28. If the car sits overnight, or for a short period of time, less than 30 min, it starts fine. However if it sits for say an hour or two, it turns over and eventually starts after about 5-10 seconds. When it starts, the rpms are very low, then gradually go up, black smoke does come out of the exhaust. Do any of you have an idea of what is wrong? Could just running rich cause this?

Few things come to mind. First thing I would do is get the fuel presure tested, makes sure it holds presure after you turn the car off. Also, make sure to check your coil, wires, plugs, and opti. But before you do ALL this, change your fuel filter. Do you have an ses light?

No ses light, the wires, coil, and fuel pump were replaced last year. I will try changing the fuel filter, I'm not sure when it was last changed.

Thanks

Yea, OR it could be your ICM (Ignition Control Moduel) thats the thing located in the bracket with the coil. But I doubt its that, those things either usally work or they dont.

same here

my car is doing the exact same thing. how come it does this when starting but not during running it down the road? Is fuel pressure less while riding around? I know vacuum pressure is higher during idle so is fuel pressure same thing? Thanks!! ( I have bought the fuel filter yesterday but not installed it yet)
