hard start after header install

i did a thorough search to come up empty. i installed jet hot long tube headers on my 94 Z28/m6 and had the engine bored .030 over with the heads upgraded to the LE2 head and cam package-since all the mods once the engine reaches normal operating temperature the engine cranks slowly during starting.with the engine cold or slightly warmed up the engine cranks fine.i think the starter is overheated from the headers and i will probably fabricate a heat shield for the starter or go with a high torque starter.has anyone ran into this problem before...any ideas would be appreciated, thanks!

That happened to an old bronco of mine. The header heat was heat soaking the starter. It would start fine when cold or kinda warm, but hot it would be a real hard start. I just wrapped my headers and replaced the starter and had no more problems.
